The National Youth Authority(NYA) in the Asutifi North district in collaboration with the Asutifi North Youth Parliament on Sunday celebrated the Africa Youth Day with a peace dialogue and vigil at Kenyasi in the Ahafo region.
The Day was marked with the theme, a peaceful Ghana: rhetoric, realities and the youth factor.
The Asutifi north district director of the NYA, Kingsley Asante Koranteng said the Day is celebrated 1st November of every year to create awareness on the usefulness of the role of the African youth in the socio – economic development of the continent.
The speaker of the Asutifi north youth Parliament,The Right Hon. George Nti said for the world to experience peace and tranquility, there must be peace for the individual, peace in the communities and peace in the Nation.
He suggested that the world will experience total peace if we motivate the Youth to be part of peace building process and not tag them as violent and trouble – makers. He said potentials of the youth must be harnessed through education and skills training.
Hon. Ibrahim Yusif who represented the Asutifi north constituency parliamentary candidate of the NDC, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo pledged his party’s support for peace before, during and after the elections.
The PC challenged the youth of Ahafo to prove to the world that they are no more violent and trouble – makers as 2020 elections approaches.
The Asutifi north constituency parliamentary candidate of the NPP, Patrick Bannor was represented by Emmanuel Kyeremeh. He promised his party’s support for peace in the run out to the elections.
The NPP urged the Youth of Asutifi north district to avoid violence and trouble -making in all facets of lives to enable peace and tranquility to prevail in the Ahafo region.
