There are so many means to travel abroad. One of the means that has proven to be effective is the education route. A number of Ghanaians have managed to leave the shores of the country through this route. Before one can make a financial commitment to this course, they must be in a well-informed position and this article seeks to highlight some important documents one may need in order to initiate the process of applying to schools abroad before the visa acquisition segment.
1. Recommendation letters
They are supposed to be prepared by your lecturers or professors or teachers who can speak on your academic prowess. Most of them don’t have the time so it’s advisable to have a draft before you talk to them and it even makes their work easier. You will need their email, full name, contact, position etc dur the application process. Some schools also accept professional recommendations from work place.
2. Statement of purpose/Motivational letter/letter of intent
You are supposeded to prepare this yourself and some programs will tell you what to include in it, other programs or schools make it. Google about it, a lot of samples online. Do not plagiarize. Always check what your program’s department want when it comes to these documents.
3. Academic CV
A lot of information on youtube on how to draft a good academic CV.
4. Request for your transcript from your school
5. If you don’t have intentions of writing SAT or GRE, then avoid schools that demand for that.
6. Transcript evaluation
it’s expensive, more than 1500 cedis, you pay in dollars to the institution doing the evaluation. It’s avoidable because there a lot of schools that do not require that.
7. English Test Scores
We are an English-speaking country and most schools exempt Ghana from it. Also, if you have taken a course work in English, maybe diploma or degree, you are not required to submit it by most schools.
