The Director of Cooperate Affairs at the National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Programme has admonished winners of the maiden Ministry of Education and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Programme STEMNOVATION.
“ I had the privilege of meeting in my office, winners of the Grand Finale of the 2023 MOE-NEIP STEMNNOVATION, Ahafoman SHTS in Goaso in the Ahafo Region. I seized the opportunity to encourage them and to be better future leaders.
I presented to them a personal token to motivate them”
The top 10 winners all received cash prizes from the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme to help commercialize their Solutions.
Ahafoman Senior High School won the 2023 STEMNNOVATION competition, stunning the country with their groundbreaking project on the Flexible Use of Electricity.
Outshining 24 other institutions nationwide, they secured victory with a remarkable score of 164 points.
The Ahafoman SHS team’s innovative approach involved generating electricity through a locally modified generator and accumulator connected to a solar panel, powering a plant-based incubator.
As a reward, the three talented contestants and their coaches earned a sponsored one-week trip to Japan for an international STEM competition next year, along with a four-year full scholarship to any Engineering University in Ghana.
Their impressive prize package included a cash award of GH₵50,000 from the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), a desktop computer from Omega Computers, GH₵20,000 life insurance from Glico Insurance company, as well as medals and STEM textbooks.
Notably, the three female contestants from the mixed Ahafoman SHS received the prestigious “Girls Team Award” of GH₵5000 from Bountiful Technologies, while their coaches were presented with mobile phones from Motorola.
Wesley Grammar SHS secured second place, earning GH₵30,000 cash prize, a laptop, and a printer, while Bosomtwe Girls’ claimed third place with a prize package of GH₵20,000 cash, a laptop, and a printer.
The competition featured specific project awards, with Wesley Grammar SHS excelling in Urban Gardening, Swedru SHS leading in Clean Water, and Ahafoman SHS standing out in Effective Use of Electricity.
The event also recognised core values, engineering excellence, and outstanding presentations.
Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum expressed excitement at the students’ performance, acknowledging the pivotal role of judges, coaches, and school leaders.

Dr Adutwum highlighted the positive outcomes of the nation’s education reforms and pledged continued efforts to engage stakeholders in revamping the country’s economy through education policies.
In recognition of Ahafoman SHS’s achievement, Dr. Adutwum committed to building a new science laboratory for the school.
The Deputy Coordinator of Free Senior High School praised sponsors and institutions for their contributions and pledged ongoing efforts to enhance the teaching and learning of science in schools nationwide.
