Novel coronavirus pandemic fight : Ahafo RCC rolls out pragmatic measures to halt the spread of the virus into the region.

The Ahafo regional coordinating council at an emergency meeting with all the Paramount Chiefs and municipal and district Chief Executives on Friday, 24h April, 2020 have rolled out an enhanced measures to halt the spread of the virus into the region.
The RCC’s further measures and directives adopted for implementation in the Ahafo regional jurisdiction against the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic,are for the overall safety and prevention of the citizenry.
In a release to the press dated 24th April ,2020 states that all weekly markets in Ahafo Region have been closed for a period of two (2) weeks with effect from 1.00am Monday 27th April, 2020 to allow the respective Municipal/District Assemblies to reorganise the market areas to ensure social distancing in all markets.
The release also mentioned that daily markets are allowed to operate under the strict social distancing protocols but not on the Weekly market days.
Moreover , Operations of the new Indian begyai motors populary known as Pragyia tricycles are also suspended for a period of two (2) weeks with effect from Monday, 27th April, 2020.
” Taxi cabs and passenger vehicles are to operate under the social distancing Protocols put in place by their unions.” – Ahafo RCC
The release noted also that goods – carrying tricycles popularly known as Aboboyaa tricycles are allowed to operate by carrying goods only and no
passenger is permitted on goods-carrying tricycles.
The press release which was sighed by the Ahafo regional minister, Evans Opoku Bobie further directed that the general public and travellers in Ahafo and outside Ahafo are to observe social distancing protocols.
” Frequent hand washing with soap under running water, avoiding overcrowding at homes, sleeping rooms,wearing of nose masks both in the region. and travelling outside the region, following cough etiquettes,staying at home without going out unnecessarily, is key and expedient to our fight against the virus.” Ahafo regional minister
The REGSEC , according to the release will review all these decisions at the end of the two two weeks period and communicate back to the public.
The REGSEC and Nananom later called on the general public in Ahafo to and those who wants to travel to Ahafo to follow these decisions to ensure that together they keep Ahafo and Ghana safe from the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The security Agencies are directed to ensure strict enforcement of these decisions in all areas of the region.
