Lifting of Lockdown: Head of Local Government service entreats members to adhere to laid down safety and prevention protocols.

Members of the local government service have been entreated to strictly adhere to all the laid down safety and prevention protocols in their various places of work towards the prevention of the corona virus pandemic.
In a letter dated 20th April , 2020 addressed to all regional ministers,Metropolitan,municipal ,district chief executives and all coordinating directors, said this further notice is in line with His Excellency the President’s addressed to the Nation on Sunday, April 19, 2020 on updates to Ghana’s Enhanced Response to the Corona virus Pandemic.
The letter which is sighed by the head of service at the local Government service, ING. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur stated that In view of the President’s safety and prevention directives , the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) wishes to entreat staff of the Service to take note of the protocols.
It said government has taken decision to lift the 3 week old restriction on movement in the GA Metropolitan Area, Kasoa and the Greater Kumasi Metropolis and its contiguous
districts etfective Monday April 20, 2020
Again ,government has made it clear that lifting the restrictions does not mean we are letting our guard down thus all earlier measures announced on Wednesday March 1, 2020 are still very much in force.
According to the letter , the Service will still enforce the relaxed working hours directives as per their earlier communication to all the regional coordinating councils (RCCs) and the metropolitan, municipal ,district Assemblies (MMDAs) in accordance with the guidelines from the public services Commission (PSC).
It further noted that the Service will continue to observe all the workplace protocols including social distancing and hygiene protocols in addition to the existing protocols, as the President advised, all Staff are encouraged to wear a facemask wherever we go including offices so as to help us not to
contract the virus.
In summary, the Head of Service entreats all Staff to adhere to social distancing protocols, personal hygiene practices and the wearing of masks in all our offices and places of work.
The letter also entreated all coordinating councils to support staff acquire masks for use in offices and places of work as a matter of urgency.
