- A total of 636 cases of COVID-19 have so far been recorded in Ghana with eight (8) deaths.
- Seventeen (17) infected persons have recovered from the disease.
- Eighty-three (83) infected persons are in recovery status with 66 people in treatment already having tested negative for the virus once.
- Two hundred and eight (208) of the infected persons are well and in mild condition with two critically ill.
- A total 406 persons have so far been arrested for flouting the lockdown directive; 103 are in custody, 248 have been granted bail and 41 have been processed for court.
- Individuals who breach the lockdown measures will face a jail term of four up to 10 years; liable offenders may also face a fine of GH¢12,000 to GH¢60,000 following successful investigation and prosecution.
- Benevolent persons and groups involved in the distribution of food to the less privileged are required to strictly observe social distancing and all other preventive measures. The State will not hesitate to stop persons who breach the guidelines.
- Persons who share false information online breach the Electronic Communications Act and perpetrators would be prosecuted accordingly when caught.
- Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs is engaging all chiefs to actively participate in the fight against COVID-19 by taking charge of their respective traditional areas and communities.
- All official information on COVID-19 have been translated into eight different languages, including Twi, Ewe, Hausa, Dagbani, and Dagaari, to beef up public education and sensitisation across the country.
- The stigmatisation of persons who have contracted the disease is strongly discouraged to enable people to freely seek medical assistance when they experience symptoms suspected to be COVID-19.
- The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) wants the media to scale up its public education efforts to reflect the severity of the pandemic. It also calls for effective collaboration between all umbrella organisations in the media to harmonise information dissemination.
- Data usage has increased dramatically within the lockdown period, resulting in heavy congestion on all networks. This has affected the quality of service to the general public.
- President has directed that more bandwidth be given to the Telcos for free to contain the situation and enhance user experience.
- Ministry of Communication is working with StarTimes to screen free educational contents for students living in the rural areas
- 16,000 people have so far downloaded the GH COVID-19 Tracker App which was launched on April 13, 2020 to help in identifying and tracing persons who have come into contact with persons infected with COVID-19.
- The Ministry of Communication is working with Apple to make the app available on their platform for download
- Persons who do not have smartphones can dial *769 # for assistance if they are either experiencing symptoms suspected to be coronavirus or have come into contact with persons who have contracted the virus.
