The President, Nana Akufo-Addo has stressed that beyond Agenda 111, his vision is to help make Ghana the center of excellent medical care in West Africa by 2030.
He added that Ghana can leverage its status as the most peaceful country in West Africa and a beacon of democracy by investing more in its health sector.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony to begin work on the building of the agenda 111 hospitals at Trede, he indicated that, he is happy the biggest investment in the nation’s health care has been made under his tenure.
According to Akufo-Addo, COVID-19 apart from causing hardship on the country has also exposed the deficiency in the health system.
“The ravages of the COVID-19 made us discover that there are some 111 Districts that lack hospitals,” he said in his address monitored by wontumionline’s Nana Owusu Achiaw.
He noted that the 111 hospitals after completion will have a positive impact on the lives of the respective communities.
President Akufo-Addo disclosed that 20,000 health professionals would be employed when the projects are completed.
“25,000 jobs will be created during the construction and the design of the projects. Jobs will be created for the residents in the local economy,” he affirmed.
