BACKGROUND
On April 24, 2020 the Ahafo regional security council in an emergency meeting at Goaso, the regional capital imposed a two weeks ban on weekly market days, the new Indian begyai motors ( Pragyia) and passenger motorcycles ( Okada) among other directives.
The motif behind these measures and directives by the Ahafo REGSEC is to halt the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic into the region.
” I have sent messages across all the information centers in my jurisdiction to make a serious announcement to all and sundry to refrain from attending market on Tuesdays and Fridays in Hwediem. The gong beaters too are not left out.” Osuodumgya roars.
Hwediem Omanhene later encouraged his people to buy whatever they want in the ordinary days and markets and also to strictly adhere to all the social distancing protocols, regular hand washing with soap, regular hand rubbing with alcohol based sanitizers and wearing of face masks when in public places as told by the health service.
