Banda NPP takes on their MP for attempting to play politics of ethnicity

The executives of the New patriotic Party-NPP in the Banda Constituency in a press conference have described claims by the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area over demolition exercise as lies

The demolishing was conducted by authorities of the Bui Dam weeks ago.

According to the chairman of the New Patriotic Party-NPP, the demolition exercise that took place has nothing to do with the party in the Constituency as well as the government. He said the Dam Authorities undertook the demolishing to safeguard the Dam

Charles Adjei noted that the reason behind the sitting Member Parliament’s action is because he knows he will loose the 2020 General Election and he is struggling to find excuses for his non performance .

Banda constituency houses most part of the Bui dam with most of its lands taken over by the Dam. The Constituency has settlers in and around the dams catchment areas which makes it unsafe for them

Few weeks ago the Dam Authorities embarked on a demolition exercise in the Bongase area to pave way for implementation of the plans towards the preservation of the Dam and other relevant activities to take place.

The Minority in parliament and the MP for the area, Ahmed Ibrahim launched an unsavoury attack on the new patriotic party in the Constituency.

The party considers the accusations as arrogant, unpleasant, and uncalled for in their bid to make the public believe that the demolition exercise has political connectivity.

In a bid to clear the air, the New Patriotic party Executives in the area have replied the MP for spewing lies and making Banda Popular for the wrong reasons. The chairman cautioned the MP not to attempt to smear the hard-earned reputation of the party in the Constituency

“Instead of developing the Banda area, our MP is engaging in unnecessary and unwarranted attacks on the NPP in the Constituency”

He said the people of Banda are awake and the incumbent MP and his National Democratic Congress will loose the 7th December’s elections

The executives further stated that the level of Developmental projects being undertaken by the government through their parliamentary Candidate, Joe Danquah and other relevant activities is overwhelming and therefore advised the MP to learn from him.

“We suspect the Member of Parliament is frightened by these, hence incessant rant which will cause his exit from parliament in December’s election

According to the NPP, the Banda people have coexisted with various ethnic groupings in the Constituency since time immemorial and will continue to do so despite the attempt by the MP to divide them

“Banda is united under NPP and will continue to be united’ Any attempt by the sitting MP to pitch any minority ethnic groupings against the Banda people will not wash and so we advise the MP to desist from such public utterances which are divisive in nature and do not bring progress to the area” the party cautioned.
