Asutifi residents cry foul over poor road.

Residents of the two districts, Asutifi north and south are so unhappy about the total neglect of the Hwediem – kenyasi road by their member of parliament and the District chief executive and the president of the republic, HE Akuffo Addo.
According to the residents of the two districts, the 2.5 kilometres stretch became unmotorable for the past eight years and was awarded to Kofi Job company limited by the elsewhere Mahama administration who started construction of the road.
According to them , right after the 2016 elections, the ruling NPP government revoked the contract of Mr Kofi Job in the name of auditing the contract. Since then, they say ,no contractor has been on site to start work and the road keeps detorrating , causing unbearable discomfort to users of the road including school children and motorists.
The secretary for Asutifi Taxi drivers association, Alhassan Issah lamented how governments, past and presents have neglected the road. ” we have been planning for series of demonstrations and strikes to register our displeasure to our leaders but they will come to us to calm down and then promise us contractors will be on site” – he added.
John Boadu, a Taxi driver, from Hwediem to Kenyasi said no car owner is now willing to put his vehicle on the road. ” our cars are sent to the mechanic’s shop on regular basis, making us financially handicapped. ” he cried.
Mr kwame Nti, a regular passenger on the road said many people including him suffered coughs and other dust related sickness due to the dusty and muddy nature of the road. ” I beg Mr president to come to our aid” he added.
Madam Owusuaa , who has closed her shop along the Hwediem – kenyasi highway narrated how most traders and shop owners have abandoned their business because of unbearable dust and mud into their shops. ” Sis Akua who was operating a restaurant and a pub along the road has closed the place for long due to the nature of the road “
When I travelled on the road, I counted seven basic schools along the road, many houses, companies , banks and churches. The heads of all these institutions complained bitterly about the nature of the road.
The taxi drivers said, the president of the republic, HE Nana Akuffo Addo promised to fix the road soon during his regional tour and their parliamentarian, Joseph Dahah and his DCE keep giving them failed promises on radio on daily basis.
