Akufo-Addo make changes ministerial appointees

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has disclosed to the House the names of ministerial nominees listed for appointments by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

This follows the resignations of three ministers: Alan Kojo Kyerematen (Trade and Industry), Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto (Agric), and Kojo Kum (Chieftaincy).

When Parliament reconvenes on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, Mr Bagbin will reveal the nominees.

The nominations included new appointments as well as reshuffles.

Mohammed Amin Adam, a Karaga MP, has been named Minister of State in the Finance Ministry, thereby replacing Charles Adu Boahen.

Kobina Tahir (K.T) Hammond, MP for Adansi-Asokwa, has been appointed Trade Minister to replace Alan Kyeremanten, with Nhyiaeso MP Stephen Amoah (Sticka) serving as a Deputy.

Herbert Krapah, a former Deputy Trade Minister, has been reassigned as Deputy to the Energy Ministry.

Akuapim South MP Osei Bonsu (OB) Amoah has been named Minister of State in the Local Government Ministry.

Bryan Acheampong, MP for Abetifi, will succeed Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto as Minister of Food and Agriculture.

Asamoah Boateng, a former Director-General of the State Interest and Governance Authority, will lead the Chieftaincy Ministry.

In a letter to the Speaker, President Akufo-Addo expressed his hope that the nominees would be approved quickly so that they could assist him in carrying out his mandate.

Mr Bagbin, for his part, praised the appointments while emphasizing that the nomination was subject to scrutiny and parliamentary confirmation.
