68-year-old woman welcomes twins after so many years of marriage

A 68-year-old Nigerian woman has welcomed a set of twins after so many years of marriage.

She successfully delivered twins (male and female) at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Chairman of LUTH’s Medical Advisory Committee Prof. W. L. Adeyemo released a statement to announce the recording setting delivery.

From the statement, it was gathered that the woman who got pregnant for the first time through In vitro fertilization (IVF), gave birth to her babies on Tuesday, April 14.

She is said to be the ‘oldest verifiable’ first time mother in Nigeria and in Africa.

In vitro fertilisation is a process of fertilisation where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, in vitro. The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman’s ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova from the woman’s ovaries and letting sperm fertilise them in a liquid in a laboratory
